Welcome to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
My home for the first 10 days as Peace Corps English teacher.
One week ago today I was nervously awaiting my departure from Royal Palm Beach, Florida to Washington D.C.
Upon arriving in Washington D.C. I met my new colleagues for the next 27 month. This is better known as staging. Staging was fast and furious but I was able to cover a lot of ground. Never knew I could see all the major moments including the White House, visit with my uncle and eat my last American food in such a rapid manner.
4:00 a.m. Tuesday morning was my earliest wake up call ever. Off to Dulles International and on to Ethiopian Airlines. For the next 17 hours I came to know my fellow 48 teachers well.
Hello Addis Ababa and 7,700 feet. Wow! Beautiful land, altitude sickness, group picture and off to the races.
I think I like the food but I’m not quite sure — the altitude sickness has slowed down my taste testing but time heals all things.
I am enjoying this new endeavor, learning constantly, making new relationships but nothing could prepare me for what I am seeing. I feel like this is where I am meant to be and am honored to be here.
Stay tuned for more adventures!
